Falling (Haiku)

The lip of Summer
Drips hot sweat from its soft flesh
As we watch it Fall

Stretching (Haiku)

Light stretches warm arms
Over dewy morning grass
Nudging a new start

Entangled (Tanka)

Unsettling fear
Entangled deeply within
Should not reside here
For in the present moment
I have found nothing to fear

The Meadow

Intently, she veers off a path of gloom,
wandering into a meadow, soft hue, full in bloom.
Tossed sporadically, flowers shading tomorrow,
amongst strangling weeds, breeding yesterday’s sorrow;
she picks a flower while wandering through,
its fragrance familiar, a scent fading; you.
A drop of memory falls from her eye, watering soil
with days gone by.
A new path ahead leads to love, new tomorrow;
she sets down the flower, and with it her sorrow;
joyous anticipation accompanies fresh ground;
she glances back at what was, as flowers wither; abound.

Fever (Haiku)

Drowsy branch wakens
Fever springs open grey blinds
Blooming colors burst

On Promised Wings

From promised wings, she sees your pain;

reaching for you, unnoticed,

her efforts in vain.

Through clouds of grey, speckled with blue,

you search the skies, lost,

as she cries for you.

“Close your eyes“, she whispers to your mind,

“believe in love, trust,

and you shall find“.

You feel her voice softly tickle your ear,

closing your eyes you imagine,

releasing all fear.

Eyes slowly open, before you she stands;

joy spills down your cheeks, found,

as she holds out her hands.

She kisses your lips, then softly sings

a melody of love, hope and dreams,

while soaring high on promised wings.

6:00 a.m.

It's 5:59 a.m  _  when I find
myself encompassed by you . Your leg
is wrapped firmly around my thigh, strong arms
surround my midsection. You give a gentle tug, pulling
me against you, your warmth, your skin, your lust now
carved perfectly into my body.  As your breath teases
my hair, I feel your heart beating against the smooth
curve of my back. You trace my neck with your
mouth, whispering into my ear, your soft
warm lips gently brushing my lobe,
tickling my inner child, yet
provoking the woman
in me to come
out and
play.

At
6:00 a.m.,
my fingers fumble
around on my nightstand,
seeking the snooze button of my
now blaring alarm clock. I muffle its
cries as the morning’s soft silence once again
fills the room. It is only then that I painfully realize,

I am alone.

Direction

 Comes forth doubt
From good intention
Unguarded thought
Changed direction

With a heavy heart
She turns away
No longer defending
All she tried to say
